Christmas '08

This Christmas was awesome, and Dallin had a blast. We started out with the Quentin family annual Christmas Eve party at my mom's house. I look forward to this party every year because it is really the only time I get to see my exteded family. We had a great turn out and I was able to show off my cute boy and announce my newest addition to everyone! After the party we headed home with some cute new jammies of course! We woke up early so we could enjoy a little time just the three of us opening our gifts. Dallin was adorable as always getting excited over every little gift. We had to rush though, because we had to head over to my mom's early. There we enjoyed all our wonderful gifts from my parent's, my aunt who always comes and stays on Christmas and of course my sis and Tyler. We had yummy breakfast and then ventured on to Andy's parent's. Again, we were spoiled and had fun with them. Overall it was a very nice Christmas. We got some wonderful things including clothes, CD's, movies, a video camera and a beautiful vintage painting of the Salt Lake Temple. I cant believe that next Christmas I will have two kids. How weird is that!!! I hope everyone had a great Holiday, and Happy New Year!

Kids say the darnest things

Lately Dallin has been so HILARIOUS! I have to share the funniest thing he said to me the other day. We were sitting on the couch watching TV (which we hardly ever do, its always movies around here) when a commercial came on for Kmart Jewlers. The lady opened a gift and it was a diamond necklace. The husband put it on the wife and blah blah blah... the rest is a blur. All I remember is Dallin saying the following phrase,
"He went to Jared"

Excuse me? I was seriously crying because I was laughing so freaking hard! Silly Kid.

Its a....

GIRL! We went to fetal fotos tonight for our "gender" ultrasound they call it. What a great experience that was. The girl was so nice, the place is very clean and peaceful and they spent over 35 minutes just looking around at all the cute baby features. We had a really hard time finding out the sex because the ubilical cord was between the legs the whole time, so it was easy to mistake for "male parts". The girl got one awesome shot that informed us we were having a little girl. We all screamed (okay so just me, my mom and Andy's mom) but it was so fun! We all thought it was a boy because we saw the cord, but when she put "im a girl" on the screen I about lost it. I definately wanted a girl more than a boy, but obviously would have been happy with either. She was so active during the whole scan, and we even caught her yawning. So cute. Anyway, I am just very happy to know now, and feel like I can really start preparing. Dallin was excited to learn he was having a "little sister" although he seemed to know before I even knew I was pregnant based on a few comments he made. Those little ones are so in tuned, you know! We are excited to start really talking baby names, and we have a few great ones in the running so far. Yeah! I will have to post a picture from the ultrasound when I have more time.

Bye Bye Blaze

Well for those who havent heard, the AFL (arena football league) had to cancel their '09 season. This means that all employees were laid off including Andy. We sort of figured it was coming, but it is still a bit shocking. Today was his last day, and he has started his ski delivery business full throttle now. We hope it goes well for us so he wont have to find a different job, so now we just sit and wait! Already, Andy has jumped right into this new job with total motivation, and has quite a few reservations already for this weekend and more to come. We are excited for this new journey, and hope things work out in the end. You know they always say things happen for a reason!! In other news, I have decided to go to fetal fotos at 15 weeks to find out the sex of the baby. For some reason I am incredibly anxious to find out this time around. I invited my mom and mother in law to come to the ultrasound, so it will be a fun event for everyone. I go this monday, so wish me luck and of course I will post as soon as I find out!

14 week belly shot

Okay I decided to be brave and post a belly shot. I feel like I look so big for being 14 weeks (well close enough) Oh well, second child syndrome I guess.

Sledding!!!!

We decided to hit the hills for some sledding action. It was Dallin's first time, and he was so excited all day. I was a little unsure how he would handle the whole ordeal, but he loved it! After a few times he got a little more hesitant, but he still loved it!

Dallin of course had to ride with Granddad a few times. He loves his Granddad so much, they are such buds. Grammy even went down a few times.

Dallin looked so cute pulling the little sled all by himself.

We got all bundled up in our gear! I felt like I was going skiing, but that isnt in the cards for me this season! Being pregnant really limits what I can do, so I made the executive decision to try sledding. I hadnt been in years, and it was really fun! I didnt even fall off, so baby was totally fine LOL!

What a cutie all bundled up in his gear!

Updates.... and stuff

So I am 13 weeks prego now, and look like I am about 17 or so. I cant believe how fast I started showing with this baby. My belly button is already close to popping out and i am getting close to having to transition to maternity pants. Wow, who would have thought. Maybe one day I will be brave enough to post a belly picture. I havent taken one yet but probably should here soon. I have started feeling better (as far as the nausea goes). I am still very fatigued and have a hard time getting through the day. I was in bed by 8:30 last night, sorry Andy I am so boring! Dallin is getting over a nasty cold which meant not a lot of sleep at night for either of us. I have been such a homebody (which is so unlike me) because I have had no energy to do anything. I need to get out and finish christmas shopping, it is sneaking up on us here so quickly. Other than that, things are good at the Sylvia house. For those who may have heard, the AFL (arena football league) which is who Andy is employed by, might be going under. Ya, I guess the whole economic crisis has really hit them hard. They have been trying to work things out for a few weeks now, but things arent looking too hot. That means Andy will lose his job with the Blaze if the league goes under. No worries though, because Andy just scored a new part time job which he will be working from home running a new ski delivery business for Canyon Sports. Its not full time, but atleast we will have some income if the Blaze go under till he finds something else. I will keep everyone posted on that. Bye for now!

Feeling a bit ungrateful

I decided that since blogging is sort of like a journal, that I could start writing about things I am grateful for. I think I take things for granted way too often, and I think by recognizing three things each week I can start really appreciating the little things! You will find my list on my sidebar, and I will change it every week!

Christmas Pic!

Here is the most adorable picture of Dallin for our Christmas cards. I just had to share it.

Carrie Underwood

Andy once again got some tickets for Carrie Underwood, and being the wonderful husband he is he gave them to me to use with three of my girlfriends! We had such a blast, and escaped for a night full of yummy steak fries from Red Robin and great music by Carrie. It was a well needed Girl's night out for all of us, especially Katie who is adjusting to having two kids now that baby Brad has arrived! Carrie performed great but I didnt expect anything less. After all, she did win American Idol so we knew she would be great live!!! Here's a couple pics of us girls! Thanks Katie, Jenny and Lacy for coming and making a really fun night!

Transiberien Orchestra

Andy got us tickets to go see Transiberian Orchestra so we invited Kristina and Jared to come along. We met for dinner first at Tepanyaki which was AMAZING. I love any sort of Japanese/Chinese food and it was great to get out for a nice meal without a two year old to entertain. After dinner we headed off for the E-Center where we enjoyed the show. The Transiberian Orchestra for those who dont know is a combination of rock n roll, amazing singing and an extrodinary display of light shows. It was so fun! They combined a cute Christmas story with awesome christmas music both traditional and some of their own. Anyway, it was just a fun night out with the Francoms and we will for sure have to do that again!!

Just some Babble

Well here's to 10 weeks! I feel like that sounds so much further then 9. I have been feeling a bit better during the days, but I am still extremely tired. Last night after I got home from work I felt sick and exhausted. I went and layed in my bed while Andy was putting Dallin down at 8:30 ish and I fell right to sleep. I guess it is just my body telling me I need rest! I am totally in the "fat" stage. You all know that phase, you know, you have a huge roll on your stomach which just makes it look like you are eating a few too many brownies!!! They say by 12 weeks my uterus will rise above my pelvic bone and I might actually start looking more pregnant! I started really showing at 13 weeks with Dallin, so I think by next week I should start looking sort of prego! I actually love being pregnant, I love the pregnant belly, something about it is so wonderful to me! I should post a picture of me pregnant wiht Dallin. I got so big!!!! I took a belly picture every month starting at 13-14 weeks, so it was interesting to see the progress. I am so excited to find out what I am having this time. I was excited last time too, but for some reason the second time around it seems like I am more anxious. I am considering going to fetal photos at 14 weeks! Then we can seriously start thinking baby names, and decorating our 3rd bedroom (the most fun part really!) Oh and something totally not related to baby, but I am so thrilled about is I might be moving to a set work schedule. I know it doesnt seem like a big deal, but for over 2 years now I have been trying to plan my babysitters and appointments around my two days off which rotated every week. Last week I decided to go talk to my manager about having the same days off every week and she was suprisingly open to the idea. So, starting January I will have every Monday and Wednesday off! This is going to relieve so much stress for me, and now I can plan doctor appts. etc. months in advance and not have to worry about work!!! Yeah. Well enough babbling for now. Sorry there are no pics, I have been slacking on uploading them. Tonight I am going to the Carrie Underwood concert with Lacy, Katie and Jenny. We ar so excited and are in desperate need of a Girl's Night OUt! I will definately post pics from that!

June 17, 2009

This is the day my second baby will be born (or somewhere close to this date). I went for an ultrasound to determine my due date, and I my intuition was right, I was about 3 weeks off from my original due date. That's what you get when you mix crazy thyroid issues, tons of negative pregnancy tests, and suddenly a positive one! Oh well, I am actually very excited for a June baby. The timing for us could not be any better, and I am just happy that we were finally able to get pregnant without having to intervene. I got a cute ultrasound pic of the little bean, so I will try and scan it in soon. Sometimes I cant believe we are actually going to have another baby. It really freaks me out sometimes, but I am so excited and am looking forward to that next phase in our lives. Andy will be graduating right around that same time, so we are hoping he can score an amazing job which will allow me to cut back on work so I can be home most of the time with the little ones. Being a mom is the hardest but most rewarding thing I have ever experienced. I cant wait to meet this baby and watch it grow.

A due date, Please

So unfortunately I am not sure how far along I am in my pregnancy. I know it is anywhere from 9-12 weeks, but my cycles were so whacked that we arent going off of that. My first doctor's appointment was last tuesday and my doctor said she thought I was about 8 weeks. She set up an early ultrasound appointment for the 13th so we can finally set a due date. I wish they could have just done a quick ultrasound while I was at my appt. but my doctor's office isnt cool like that I guess!!! I cant wait for thursday to finally know, and I will be able to feel like I can relax and start better preparing. I am still feeling pretty crappy. I have some good days, which is nice. Mainly I am exhausted, and I have been going to bed about 8:30-9:00 every night if I can. I tend to get really sick about this time, so if I am sleeping I avoid it all together. If I keep food in my belly then I am usually okay! I will keep everyone updated!

Halloween Festivities

We decided to try our hand at pumpkin carving this year. I was not sure how Dallin would react, but he actually had no interest in it whatsoever. Oh well, we had a good time!

I carved a spider which turned out better than I thought. The pumpkins only lasted like one day with the warm weather and they wilted out on our porch. Dont mind Nate being crazy in this picture!

We decided to dress up this year as Doctors. It was pretty fun, and we stayed dry in the rain with our adorable little hats.

Here is the cute little family. Dallin liked trick or treating this year. He was so cute going house to house getting yummy candy (for mom and dad of course)

Dallin and Lyla looking adorable. They were excited to get home so they could start eating some of their candy. Suckers were sure a hit!

What is this feeling?

Okay so for those who dont know, I had the "perfect pregnancy" with Dallin. (well minus the 50 or so pounds i gained) I was never sick, and I loved being pregnant! So far this pregnancy has been the total opposite. I am sick every day all day. None of this "morning" sickness crap, I am lucky if it is only in the morning. Fortunately, I havent thrown up yet... trust me I feel like I need to it just doesnt come. I feel like I am car sick all day, I am so tired and I just want to eat because it is the only thing that seems to help any. This is what I am hoping it all means. I am totally a huge believer in superstitions, and karma and all that jazz so this is my philosophy.

Dallin's pregnancy=
-easy pregnancy
-hard delivery
-hard newborn
-boy

This pregnancy=
-hard pregnancy
-easy delivery
-easy newborn
-girl

Now wouldnt that be nice. I endure 9 months of yucky sickness for the sweetest most easy going little girl. I guess we shall see! I go to my first Doctor's appointment tomorrow. I am excited to see how far along I really am because I am not really sure. I will let you all know how it goes.

San Diego

Well we had a great time on our little vacation to San Diego. We decided to drive because now that Dallin is over 2, we would have had to buy a plane ticket. It ended up not being too bad of a drive because we stayed over night in Vegas on the way down and Mesquite on the way back. Dallin slept some, watched some movies and listened to a lot of music! We rented a cute beach house just 2 blocks from the beach. It was perfect for us and my parents who also came down. We went to Sea world, the Zoo, the Beach a few times, and ate lots of yummy food! It was quite hard with Dallin because he didn’t really get naps, and bedtime was hard because he didn’t want to fall asleep by himself. Otherwise it was a good time. Our beach house supplied bikes, boogie boards, beach equipment etc. so we were all set up for good times on the water. Andy and I had fun boogie boarding even though we were like the only ones not in wet suits! Oh well, you cant not get in the ocean when you visit even if it is freezing cold. We had Dallin tell my parents while we were at Sea world that “he was going to be a big brother” They were really excited. Overall it was fun to get away for a week, and Andy got a break from school and work.

We're Growing!

That's right, you guessed it. We are having baby #2. We are so excited, and nervous all at the same time. It has been quite the journey getting to this point. Here is a brief summary of events:
*it started out with me not having a monthy cylce for over 6 months (kind of a necessity when trying to conceive)
*I went to my OB to get some tests done, we soon determined I have Hashimoto's Disease which we figured linked to my infertility
*I got treated for my thyroid issue, but still no cycle
*after 10 months total now, I saw my OB again to discuss further options
* I was prescribed Prevera and CLOMID!
* I filled my Prevera (manually start my cycle) but bought a pregnancy test just one more time to be sure. THis was probably my 10th test.
* Came home and took the test before starting my pills
* The test revealed a FAINT line. I immediately went into some sort of shock period
* I called Lacy and sent her a picture text of the test for a second opinion, and went and bought a second test which again, had a faint line
* the next day at work I got a blood test to confirm that I truly was Prego!

And that is how the events unfolded leading to this wonderful event. I am so happy that I didnt have to deal with the whole infertility battle with CLomid and In Vitro and all that Jazz. I am just happy to be at this point. My official Due Date is May 26, which puts me at just about 9 weeks. I go for my first appointment next week, so we will see if the due date is accurate or not. Yeah!

Game 6...... barely

Well it is no mystery that Andy and I are HUGE Boston Red Sox fans. Our season was just about over in the 7th inning of last night's game. We are in California right now, so we werent able to watch the whole game. We saw that we were down 7-0 in the top of the 7th while we were at dinner, and when we turned it on after we got home we were surprised to see it was 7-4. Still, we were not confident. Little did we know we were going to experience one of the greatest post season comebacks ever. We ended up with a tie game going into the bottom of the 9th (love the drama). Well you know what happened (for those who dont JD Drew hit a fly out to right field which brought home Youk) We totally pulled it off. Lets just say that it was awesome and now we can atleast see one more Sox game this year (hopefully more)I know you are wondering when I became a baseball junkie. Lets just say that I have learned to love it over the years! Oh and we are having a blast in Cali, and I will post more pics when we get back on Sunday!

A day at the park and "look at those curls"

Here is the cutest picture of Dallin! I decided to grow his hair out, and it is finally getting past the really awkward stage. Now he has these adorable blonde curls and of course the "wings"

Love this picture of my sidekick, Lacy and her cute Lyla!

Such a little stud!

A Beautiful New Life

I had to post a picture of my best friend Katie's newest addition. Introducing Mr. Bradley Stephen Foster. He is 10 days old now, and just the cutest little bundle of joy. Oh and he is spitting image of his older sister Audrey. Congrats guys!

President Who?

So today during Conference I was trying to teach Dallin who President Monson was. He would not say his real name no matter how many times I asked. All he would say was "President Monster". So funny. It probably helps that his favorite movie is Monsters Inc.!

Terrible 2's = understatement

Its official. The joyous phase we all dread has now made its debut into our lives. Dont get me wrong, we have had our share of tantrums for quite some time now, but just recently has it become truly "terrible". You hear about it from family members, or Nanny 911 (hopefully I am not at that point of rescuing yet!). The embarrassing display of screaming, kicking, throwing themselves down on the ground... all such pleasant sites! I have been told that when I was 2, I was a fiery red headed bundle of trouble. I guess Dallin is taking after his mommy minus the red hair. I know it is just a phase, so I try not to dwell on it too much. Sometimes the exhaustion of trying to discipline him all day sets in and I soon reach a point of anger (which as a mom is not the funnest feeling towards your own child) This is when I have to take a deep breath and leave the situation all together! Here is my conclusion about tantrums as it pertains to Dallin.
a. He is only doing it for attention. Most of the time when I am down playing with him, or we are out doing something fun he is just the cutest bundle of joy! Only when I am busy doing something that doesnt involve him or when he is bored does he have a major breakdown. I try and find a balance between his time and my time to avoid these issues. He does however do really well when we are out running errands, which is why I love going out! We tend to just walk around stores in the jogging stroller with snacks and we are golden. It is a good way to spend a few hours in the day.
b. He responds best when I either ignore him, or completely change the subject. I have to be selective on my "time outs" or he doesnt really react.
c. He acts our more when he is tired or hungry. Night time and right before dinner are the two most common times for this.

This phase has been the hardest for me so far. Although I think Dallin is so fun right now, and I love how creative he is and fun and loving, it is definitely the hardest age so far. I would rather be sleep deprived every night then feel emotionally exhauseted. Sometimes I just get so frustrated and tired of trying to discipline him I wonder if it is worth it. I know in the long run it is, but in the moment I am just so mad at myself for letting it get so out of hand. I often wonder if it has anything to do with my parenting abilities, or if every 2 year old boy has such aggression. Who knows. All I know is that I hope this phase is over soon, because I know how sweet and adorable Dallin is and I just want him to shine!!! And to think I want another child to throw in the mix of all this craziness. Maybe my crazy body is trying to tell me something by not allowing "things" to happen the way I always thought they would. Oh well. There is a song on the radio right now by Jordan Sparks called "one step a time" I love the words to this song, and feel it relates to my life right now. Here are some of the words

Hurry up and wait so close yet so far away
everything that you've always dreamed of
close enough for you to taste but you just cant touch

You wanna show the world but no one knows your name yet
wondering when and where and how you're gonna make it
you know you can if you get the chance
in your face and the door keeps slamming

now you're feeling more and more frustrated
and you're getting all kind of inpatient, waiting
we live and we learn to take

one step at a time, theres no need to rush
its like learning to fly or fallin in love
its gonna happen and its supposed to happen
that we find the reasons why, one step at a time

Love that song. Obviously that pertains to other parts of my life too, not just the terrible 2s although its a good lesson for me to take it one step at a time and one day a time with Dallin! Thanks for listening to me ramble!

So you think you can dance

So my mom bought us tickets to go see the "So you think you can dance" live show last night. I will tell you this... I only watched a few of the episodes (my mom and sister were devoted fans) so I wasnt quite sure what to expect. I was so pleasantly suprised. It was one of the coolest things I have ever been to. These people are so amazing, they way they can move and adapt to other styles of dancing outside of their specialty is unreal. I had such a good time, and by the end of the night, I felt like I knew each one personally. Three of the final ten contestants were from Utah, so it was neat for them and the audience was way into it. There were some spectacular dances, each with its own story and emotion. I mean, I am not a dancer by any means, and it really made me appreciate the art behind it. WOW!

Here we are, the three little Quentin Gals. Thanks mom for the tickets.

My beautiul sister, Sarah!

These two were the hit of the night. Joshua was the winner of season 4, and Katee was the top girl. They each won lots of money. Their dancing styles are so different, but together they just worked so well.

This was by far the most popular dance. Everyone was screaming so loud after, it was way cool. I was so impressed! Chelsey (from Utah) and Matt were the dancers in this one.

This dance was very dramatic. It was choreographed so well and was just so unique!

Makeup Anyone?

Dallin is OBSESSED with my makeup lately. He begs me to play with it, but it gets so messy so I only let him use the little powder compact. I found him sitting at his little table the other day doing this. I wanted to die it was so cute!

Thyroid Update

So tomorrow I go get my blood drawn again to see how well the thyroid medicine I have been taking is working. It has been just about 8 weeks since I started on my meds, and I feel good. The biggest thing I have noticed is I can get through a day without DYING for a nap. Honestly, I used to struggle to keep my eyes open sometimes and I would just drag for hours. Now, I can make it through the day just fine. I would not be suprised if I still needed a higher dose though, because I havent notices much else happening. My doctor wants to draw a special antibody test that doesnt just pertain to my thyroid. He just wants to make sure there is no other autoimmune problems in any other part of my body since my thyroid antibody levels were OFF THE CHARTS. So hopefully everything is fine in that regard. So here's to another test... good thing I have already met my deductable for this year!

Bowling

We went bowling last night with Andy's fam for his brother Gregg's b-day. It was so much fun, and it was Dallin's first time bowling. I was a little hesitant at first, because Dall is the type of kid who takes off running at any second and a huge bowling alley seemed a bit too scary. Well, we survived and actaully Dallin was very well behaved and thought bowling was the greatest thing ever. He used that little metal slide thing that you can roll the ball down, and he clapped after every turn. It was so cute. After about seven frames he discovered the arcades in the back and bowling was soon forgotten. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. As for me, I found out that I bowl much better left handed. Strange, I know, but I think I was meant to be left handed. First off, I kick better with my left foot, I am more flexible on my left side, I do lefty carwheels (i know what you are thinking, when do I do cartwheels) and I wakeboard with my left foot forward. that sounds like lefty to me. So basically I sucked at bowling until I switched to my left hand. It was fun being with Andy's family, and we ate at Fat Cat's beforehand. Good times! Thanks Sylva's for a fun night. Too bad I forgot my camera so there are no pics to share.

Cousins

I just wanted to post a little entry about Dallin and his sweet cousin Lyla. You see, I grew up the youngest cousin in my family by 15-20 years easy. My mom was the youngest of 5 and she didnt have me until she was 38.... you do the math. Anyway, I never had tons of little cousins running around at Sunday dinners or Holidays. I am so grateful that Dallin has the opportunity to have cute little Lyla in his life. So far, she is his only cousin, but now that Lacy is prego again, Dallin will soon have a "baby boy to play football with" as he would say! Lyla is exactly one year younger than Dallin, and I hope they grow up to be good buds. They play together so well right now (even though Dallin sometimes tackles her, and tries to pick her up by her head...). He loves that girl. I mean who couldnt seriously just look at that darling red hair.

Snowbird

The Francom's called and invited us to go up to Snowbird yesterday. We were all over it, considering it was such a beautiful day and we really wanted to get out and do something fun! We headed up around lunch time, and figured there would be tons of food up there so we didnt really pack anything to eat or drink... BIG mistake. We searched around for about a half-hour trying to find something to eat that wasnt over $12. Even a dinky little hot dog or hamburger was over ten bucks. We almost gave up on eating when we found a little restaurant that had a decent priced menu. After ordering off the kids menu (that's right) we headed out to explore. There was one of those giant bouncey slides that the kids played in for a bit. They were eyeing the Tram so we decided to splurge and since the kids rode free we thought it would be worth the money! Dallin was in heaven and stood in the window the whole time. It was so beautiful up there and the perfect tempertature. We walked around for a bit and found a little trail to hike down. Well that was stupid, what turned into a little hill turned into a 45 degree incline on the way back up.... not so good for me wearing flip flops. It was fun though, minus the burning muscles and panting/whining kids! Kristina and I felt like we were 60 years old climbing up that stupid hill! Overall, we had a fun time, and all the boys ran wild and loved sitting on the 4-wheelers and playing with rocks, while the adults just enjoyed some good company and the beautiful outdoors. Here's some cute pictures from the day!

F*R*E*A*K

You know you say a word too much when your 2 year old son runs around saying "freak" all day long. I kind of want to laugh, but honestly, I feel like this terrible mom who lets her kid say anything. Am I? It is kind of embarassing to be honest and I cant believe I just confessed this to every single person out there in Cyber Land. I have tried a few things to get him to stop saying it, but the more attention I bring to it, the more he says it. The funny thing is, now all of our friends notice how much we actually do say it. Oh and yesterday we were driving and someone was going really slow in front of us... Andy was getting a bit frustrated and all the sudden Dallin said "Are you kidding me right now?" (another common term Lacy and I use on an hourly basis). What the? Did my 2 year old really just say that? AHHH what should I do, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Remember how...

So remember how I was up last night with some of my girlfriends until 12:00 in the morning? I know, that is so out of character for me, but we just had so much fun talking we could not leave. I even had to get up and be to work by 7:30 that morning. We had a little get together with all of the girls from high school. We went to Iggys and shared old stories and had a blast catching up on eachother's lives. Then we were supposed to go see the 9:45 showing of Mama Mia, but after chatting for so long that time came and past quickly. Soon, it was down to only three of us girls and we ended up sitting in my car for 2 hours talking. It was so fun, and I am so glad that I have such great friends that I can talk to like that. I love you girls. Until the next Girls Night out...

Hashimoto's disease

That strange sounding diagnosis is my new life. That is right, I officailly have a disease called Hashimoto's. Dont worry, it really is not a huge deal and actually I am so happy that we finally figured out this craziness that has been my body lately! For those who are confused, here is a brief summary of the last few months. First off, I went to my OB/GYN becaause my lovely monthly friend had not come to visit for over 6 months. I had been feeling abnormally sluggish and tired, and just not myself. My doctor ran a few basic tests and my thyroid level (TSH) had come back elevated. Basically, my body was not producing enough of the thyroid hormone which is mainly responsible for helping metabolize your food into energy. So my doctor didnt seem too concerned and sort of lead me on my way, saying it wasnt "high enough" to treat. Well, being in the medical field I was not satisfied with that answer at all. I did a lot of research and talked to a family member with the same problem and concluded that I needed a second opinion. Thyroid levels should not be over 3 and mine was over 6. I decided to go see my Family Practice Doctor, who immediately took things seriously. He actually felt my thyroid (which my other doctor didnt) and he said it felt huge. He wanted an ultrasound immediately, and re-drew all my labs including an Antibody test. Well guess what... all my inclinations were confirmed when my antibody test came back sooo totally whacked out... 21,000 to be exact. Nobody should have thyroid antibodies in there blood at all. My doctor had never seen anything so high, and my ulrasound proved that my tissue was diseased and enlarged. So, to make a long story short... I have a disease called Hashimoto's which is an autoimmune disorder where my thyroid is attacking itself, killing tissue and my body is trying to build new healthy tissue resulting in enlargement of the thyroid. Ahhh... that was a lot. So now what? Well, there is no cure for the disease, but basically the side effect is Hypothyroidism, which in itslef is pretty common. I am now taking a supplement which I will for the rest of my life. I am on my fourth week and am slowly starting to notice some changes. Hopefully, my thyroid will start figuring thins, and it will slowly stop killing itself.

Milestones

Now that my cute babe is 2, I figured this would be a good time to document some of the fun milestones he has hit.
*He can count to fifteen
*He knows his ABC's and about 15 other songs. He is obsessed with singing and before bed we sing about 5 songs each night! How cute.
*He officially sleeps through the night (ever since he has been in his big boy bed). He has always given us a hard time when it came to sleeping, but now it is pure bliss!
*He is starting to like movies, especially Ratatoille, Cars, Monsters Inc, and Nemo
*He LOVES motorcycles, and can spot one any time any where
*He is entering his terrible two stage, learning how to throw tantrums
*He has the BEST memory, and repeats everything... even days later
*He is scared to go down slides by himself... but pretty fearless when it comes to anything else.
*He loves sports, and has loved watching the olypics.
*He can do a somersault... well just about!
*He loves peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, cereal, waffles, and rice and chicken
*He is very aware of his surroundings, and always knows where we are when we are driving, and recognizes stores when we pull up (thats when you know you shop too much)
*He is just so dang cute!

Well there you have it, a little bit of info about my little man. Hope you enjoyed it!

Dallin's Birthday Party

Last Saturday we had a birthday party for Dallin at our house. It was nothing huge, just friends and family came for cake and ice cream. Dallin was spoiled rotten, as usual, and got some really great things. Thanks for everyone for coming and helping us celebrate my little guy's birthday. (can I just say I cant believe he is 2 already)

Here is the birthday boy with his cute Aunt Sarah!

Make a wish! Dallin usually cries anytime lots of people sing Happy Birthday, but this time he actually thought it was pretty cool! He loved blowing out the candles, but as soon as everyone clapped it was all over... he cried for like 5 minutes.

Dallin had fun opening his gifts with his cute helper miss Audrey.

Like I said before... spoiled

This little ride on 4-wheeler was sure a hit. For those who dont know, Dallin is obsessed with motorcycles, so he calls this thing his motorcycle. Thanks to Chris who had his helmet near by, we were able to snap this adorable picture!
